I love this book! I found it through the bookstore and I was hooked. He writes from the perspective of a recovering alcoholic who finally got sober and was able to write about all the things that he has to deal with in life that he has to deal with in recovery. There’s so much insight into addiction and the struggles and the trials that come with it. The book was a real eye-opener for me and it has helped me with all of my life issues.
I’ve seen a few of the book’s pages on the site and I’m glad that I finally picked it up. I’m glad that I finally read it.
I love it when people talk about things that they’ve done that are super cool. Like, I have a tattoo that I got in a place that I never usually get tattoos, and it’s the most amazing thing ever.
I think you could argue that the reason why addiction is a problem in the first place is because of people like us, because of those that are addicted to things, and because of the people that are not addicts (people who are not addicted to something). If there’s something we think is super awesome, we think it’s awesome and act like it’s super awesome, and we don’t think about the reasons why it’s super awesome. That’s the way addiction works.
For the last couple years I have been telling my friends that I wanted the same thing as them: to have the things that I love. I guess it comes down to the idea that most people want to be loved, and want to be wanted, and want to be appreciated, and want to be appreciated to the point of wanting to do something that is beneficial to themselves. I think that’s a really smart way for people to think about things, so I think this makes sense to people.
The thing is, what I like about the way addiction works is that it’s always so easy to get into a habit. I’m not sure I want to be addicted to painkillers. I think at this point I’d rather just be addicted to the kind of life I want. But I guess I’m still in the process of trying to figure out how to do that.
When people say “I have a problem, I don’t like it,” I think what they really mean is that they don’t want to get into the habit of doing something that people really dislike. The thing that I am trying to figure out is, if I want to do something in the future that’s not in my life, why not try to do it later on in life? I am not trying to get into the habit of doing that.
The key to this is to be willing to try and fail. The trick to this is to not be afraid of making your mistakes. If you start with a plan, a goal, a dream, and then act on it, then you avoid the negative effects of making the same mistake again and again. Not to mention that making mistakes is fun.
The idea of not making a mistake is very important because you need to be willing to do the things that are going to make you happy, and not to do those that make you unhappy. The problem is the mistake is always going to be a mistake. People who make mistakes are always going to be unhappy, either because they don’t know what to do or because they are just not good enough at it. That’s the trick.
As a rule of thumb: if you make a mistake, and you want to make mistakes again, make a mistake.
