I love how this quote from the movie “The Thin Blue Line” makes me think of the three levels of self-awareness.
The three levels of self-awareness are, “I have no idea what I’m doing”, “I can’t hear what I’m doing”, and “I can’t figure out what I’m doing”.
I think the three levels of self-awareness can be summed up as, I am unaware of everything that is happening around me, I can’t see what Im doing, and I am unaware of how I am doing it.
The three levels of self-awareness are, I am unaware of everything that is happening around me, I cannot hear what is happening around me, and I am unaware of how I am doing it.
But if you can’t hear or see what you are doing, you can’t figure it out. So in this case, self-awareness is a combination of self-exclusion and self-observation. If you think you can do something and then you don’t, you are self-excluded. So then self-observation is about trying to figure out what you are doing and why.
That doesn’t mean you can’t be aware of what you are doing. As the old saying goes, “The best way to predict the future is to invent it.” But in order to do that, you have to be aware of what you are doing.
Self-awareness means you know what you are doing and why. It then requires you to be able to control your own actions and then also to be able to observe those actions.
Self-awareness is about being able to control your own actions. When we are aware of what we are doing so we know why, it means we are controlling our actions. In the case of Colt, it means he is trying to kill those Visionaries because he needs to kill them. That doesn’t mean he is unaware of what he is doing. He is not controlling his actions. This is his second major goal for completing the game.
In the first game, Colt Vahn was an amnesiac who was forced to go on a deadly mission. He was on his way to kill the Visionaries, and he wasnt aware of what he was doing in terms of his actions. In Deathloop he gets to control what he does, he gets to learn more about the Visionaries, and he gets to learn more about himself.
One of the main elements of Deathloop is that the player is constantly learning about himself. This is a part of the development that was one of the most difficult parts of developing the game, and it’s one of the most fun parts of the game to watch. Vahn begins by learning about himself in a very limited way. This is part of the reason why he can’t kill all the Visionaries.
