This is a very demanding job, so I’m very good at getting things done. All of the nurses at this hospital are extremely well trained in how to treat people who have dementia, and they are very compassionate with any patient who comes into their care.
The key to keeping your doors open is to have the staff be patient. Someone who is having a seizure or memory loss will get that key in the office.
This is the first and only nursing home where I have personally worked. I was so impressed by the staff and the way they took care of their patients that I thought I’d give a little back.
I also like that they try to take steps to prevent the staff from falling into the habit of overworking. As I recall from my time around the hospital, the nurses always used to make a point of reminding the staff before they left that they would be back. They were always coming back.
The hospital is full of senior citizens, so many of whom are very overweight. The nurses are so happy to be there, and it’s so easy to forget they’ll be there. They want to be there, too. They’re just so excited to see the senior citizen that they’re not.
At a place like Kent County Nursing Home it’s almost impossible to get all the residents to be well fed. It’s a very busy place with a lot of people that spend a lot of time at the hospital, so the staff is overworked and is very stressed out. The staff is also very overworked because the residents all live in the same home, so they have to get all the work done to keep up with the residents.
When the staff is working crazy hours, its easy to forget that theyre not the ones working the hardest. But the residents are the ones who work the hardest because they have all the residents to do their chores.
